This intimate destination wedding at Susona Bodrum, LXR Hotels & Resorts was designed around exactly that feeling: effortless Mediterranean elegance, warm summer light, the blue of the Aegean Sea and a bold, editorial palette of white and deep red.
Set in Torba on the Bodrum Peninsula, Susona Bodrum is surrounded by the landscape of Turkey’s Aegean coast and offers sea-facing spaces for private celebrations and destination weddings. The resort itself describes its wedding venues as settings for seafront ceremonies and celebrations overlooking the Aegean Sea.
A Love Story Made for Bodrum
The couple dreamed of a wedding that would feel intimate rather than formal — a day surrounded by their closest people, with beautiful food, music, champagne and the sea always somewhere in view.
They were looking for a luxury wedding venue in Bodrum that could combine the privacy of a destination celebration with contemporary design and a distinctly Mediterranean atmosphere.
Bodrum immediately felt right.
The Wedding Ceremony: Deep Red, White and Mediterranean Green
The ceremony was designed directly against Bodrum’s natural landscape.
Rather than hiding the surroundings behind an oversized installation, we allowed the sea, grass and green hills to become part of the composition.
The ceremony structure combined soft ivory fabric with dramatic floral arrangements in deep burgundy, wine red and white. Rich red flowers created an asymmetric statement on one side, while a lighter arrangement of white blooms balanced the opposite side.
Low floral compositions continued along the aisle, almost growing naturally from the grass.
An Editorial Red and White Wedding Reception
For the dinner design, we continued the same visual language but made it cleaner and more architectural.
Long tables were covered in crisp white linen, creating a neutral canvas for a series of sculptural red floral compositions.
Deep red roses and contemporary red anthuriums were arranged at different heights throughout the tablescape. Rather than creating one continuous floral runner, individual arrangements were positioned rhythmically along the tables, allowing space between the flowers, candles and glassware.
This gave the design a lighter, more editorial feeling.
From Golden Hour to Champagne After Dark
As dinner came to an end, the atmosphere changed completely.
Soft Mediterranean daylight disappeared, candles became brighter and the elegant reception slowly transformed into a party.
And then came one of my favourite moments of the evening: the champagne tower.
Surrounded by friends, music and the darkness of the Bodrum night, the bride poured champagne over a tower of coupe glasses as bubbles spilled from one level to another.
